The Mountain West has exit fees of upward of $17 million for departing schools. There also are poaching fees that were put in place in the Mountain West’s football scheduling agreement with Oregon State and Washington State, the only current Pac-12 members this season.
Was it prudent for Memphis to say no to the Pac-12? Possibly. Was it deflating? Unquestionably.
What respected national sports journalists say regarding a decision that will shape the future of Memphis Tigers athletics. The decision reportedly could come as soon as Monday, Sept. 23.

If given the chance, Memphis should jump to the Pac-12. It isn’t even a close call.
